We can say Robert received the comfort and support of a loyal lady no matter the difficulties he found in life. Robert was engaged to fiancee Kathryn Lemanski. Kathryn is an M.A graduate of history from Liberty University. 

The pair knew each other from their teenage years. Although only a fiancee Kathryn’s efforts were nothing less towards Buchel. She lived with him in New Jersey and took care of him. They were planning on getting married in 2018. 

Sadly Buchel passed away on November 15, 2017, due to a heart attack. The pair did not bear any children during the time of the relationship.

The star of My 600-life suffered from compulsive eating from a very young age. Compulsive eating means frequently consuming unusually large amounts of food in one sitting and feeling that eating behavior is out of control.

As a child, he had to go through extreme behavior such as once he was molested by a neighbor. The aftershock of this led to eating more to reduce the pain. Then, when he was just 19, lost his brother to a heart attack. Most of the life during the sadness and depression, Buchel relied on food for comfort.

Before he knew, he weighed 842.1 pounds and could not do simple everyday activities.

There are many downsides to having extreme weight. For Buchel he could not do normal day to day activities and was dependent on his fiancee. Alongside he had to bear excessive pain.

With great determination, Robert and his fiancee Kathryn moved to Houston to meet Dr. Younan Nowzaradan. His starting weight was 842.1 lbs. After guidance from the good doctor, he went on a strict diet and fitness resume. 

Robert had lymphedema mass removal surgery on his side of the body. It was a success resulting in a drop to 502 pounds. In total, he lost 340 lbs.

How did we lose Robert Buchel, cause of death?

After the surgery, Robert became addicted to the painkiller. The situation got to the point he had depression. Instead of doing regular exercise he refused simple activities such as walking and remained bedridden most of the time.

On November 15, 2017, at the age of 41, Robert died from a heart attack in Houston while filming the series of My 600-lb Life. The news followed and everyone gave their condolence to his family and fiancee.

Robert Buchel was born on  Sep 4, 1976, in Forked River, Ocean County, New Jersey, USA. He was the son of Marlene and Robert Buchel. His siblings were Tom and Chris. Robert was a proud American and he belonged to the caucasian origin.

Little is know about Robert’s educational and work background. All we know about him growing up is that he loved eating a lot. In an interview, Buchel said that his issues with food started at 6 years old when his parents opened a fried chicken store.

Robert was engaged to Kathryn Lemanski and the pair were planning to get married. Sadly, on November 15, 2017, at the age of 41, Robert died from a heart attack in Houston, Texas.

When he passed away, Kathryn shared this post on her Facebook page since deleted, 

“On Wednesday, November 15, 2017, the love of my life, my best friend, my closest confidant Robert Buchel passed away suddenly. I wish I could say that my heart was broken or even shattered, but in reality, it is just gone. My heart died along with him.” 

After his death, Kathryn suffered from anxiety problems and received backslash too. On June 3, 2019, she updated her relationship status and looks like she has moved on.
