Caldwell Police released additional information they recently received about January 27, 2023, fighting incident at Syringa Middle School.
After the incident in the classroom where Ettson Arreola who was a teacher's assistant at Syringa Middle School, was supervising after a school sporting event where he encouraged and recorded students physically fighting. Caldwell Police say Arreola and three Caldwell High Students encouraged four other students to fight in a school bathroom.
The middle school students have been cooperative and have provided written statements and have been interviewed by Caldwell Police. The prosecutor's office will review the report for potential additional charges.

On January 27th, 2023, the Caldwell Police arrested Ettson Arreola who is a substitute teacher at Syringa Middle School.
Caldwell Police say they were alerted to a video on social media on January 26, where two male students and two female students were encouraged to physically fight, while Mr. Arreola recorded them in his classroom.
“The Caldwell School District has zero tolerance for this type of behavior. The personal safety and welfare of each child are of paramount concern to the District. The District has taken immediate steps to ensure the safety of all students. We are providing support for the students involved and are actively cooperating with law enforcement,” said Dr. French, Superintendent of the Caldwell School DistrictPolice interviewed witnesses, parents, and school officials as well as the students involved before making the arrest.
“Mr. Arreola’s actions tear at the fabric of our community and are reprehensible. The video(s) are appalling, disturbing, and unimaginable. This man was entrusted by his community to keep our children safe and provide academic education, but he chose to facilitate a fight club in his classroom,” said Rex Ingram, Caldwell Chief of PoliceArreola was arrested on four counts of injury to a child, one count of inciting a riot, and four counts of violation of the juvenile corrections act, encouraging a minor to fight. Arreola is restricted from contacting any student in the Caldwell School District.
