ORIGIN
French Montana is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and founder of Coke Boys Records. His discography includes the album ‘Excuse My French (2013)’ and the mixtape ‘MC4 (2016)’. He was born Karim Kharbouch on November 9, 1984, in Rabat, Morocco. His parents are Abdela and Khadija. French Montana emigrated to the United States in his early teens. He was raised in South Bronx, New York, along with his brothers Zack and Ayoub.

CAREER
Montana started out doing rap battles under the moniker ‘Young French’. In 2002, he began releasing a series of Cocaine City DVDs featuring both signed and unsigned hip-hop artists. His first mixtape, French Revolution Vol. 1, was independently released in September 2007. French Montana collaborated with rapper Max B on the mixtape, Coke Wave (2009). Other early projects include The Laundry Man (2009), Mac Wit Da Cheese (2009), and Coke Boys (2010).

French Montana founded his own record label, Coke Boys Records, in 2008. He worked with Akon’s Konvict Music label on a number of tracks including the 2009 single “Married to the Streets”. In 2012, French Montana signed a joint venture with P. Diddy‘s Bad Boy Records and Rick Ross‘ Maybach Music Group. His debut studio album, Excuse My French, was released in May 2013. It peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200. The album was led by the singles “Pop That” featuring Rick Ross, Drake and Lil Wayne. Other guest artists on the album include Birdman, Ace Hood, Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj. Montana’s more recent mixtapes include Coke Zoo (2015), Wave Gods (2016) and MC4 (2016).
